As we await
the official green light for the opening of hospitality accommodations on the
North Fork, we are taking steps to ensure your safety as well as ours during
this difficult period.
With a
maximum of 10 guests in 5 bedrooms, it is easier for us to manage safety
procedures than in some larger establishments.
I know that many of you have been cooped up for far too long and are
eager to have a getaway and wanted you to know that Harbor Knoll, with its
expansive grounds, can provide the space you need both inside and outside.
We are spacing
our Adirondack chairs on the front lawn overlooking the water in groups of two
with plenty of space in between. Likewise,
on the beach, there will be a number of beach chairs. As
usual each room will be equipped with a basket containing beach towels, small
water bottles and suntan lotion to enable you to enjoy the outdoors as much as
possible.
The first guest
space to open will be The Cottage. With its private entrance, private garden
area, separate living room, screened porch bedroom with a king size bed and
shower as well as a kitchenette, it is possible to stay there without coming
into contact with the owners or other guests.
All areas of the house are being disinfected and sanitized on a regular
basis.
We are
staggering breakfast so no more than two couples will have breakfast at the
same time in the sunroom or on the porch to provide ample spacing. Breakfast will be set out for each couple,
rather than sharing a buffet as before.
Specific check-in times will be arranged for each room and guests will
be required to wear masks on arrival and sign a statement indicating that to
the best of their knowledge they are not infected with COVID-19 and have not
been in contact with someone who has or had the virus.
For Happy
Hour on the porches or outside, we will ensure adequate space for couples and
provide individual bottles of wine and snacks.
There are a
number of restaurants in Greenport Village, within easy walking distance that
have or are opening up to provide indoor/outdoor dining options. Several stores and boutiques are also opening
up and the Village plans to increase outdoor space for pedestrians.
The LIRR and
the Hampton Jitney are providing transport from New York City for those who do
not wish to come by car. The ferry to
and from Shelter Island is operating as well as several boat and bike
rentals. Parks are available nearby for
scenic walks in nature.
So, come and
join us for a weekend or longer and give yourself a well-earned vacation!
